Carol Poole

Charleston, SC - Carol Sue Astleford Poole, 50, wife of Don G. Poole, of Summerville, SC passed away Monday, September 17, 2007 at her residence.

Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday morning, September 20, 2007 at Live Oak Memorial Gardens at 11 o'clock. Friends may call at Parks Funeral Home this Wednesday evening, September 19, 2007, from 6 to 8 o'clock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, 3870 Leeds Avenue, Suite 101, North Charleston, SC 29405.

Mrs. Poole was born on July 2, 1957 in Sharon, PA, a daughter of John J. Astleford, Jr. and Betty Gamblin Astleford. She was a Honors graduate of Gallaudet University. She was the first deaf accountant in the Bureau of Public Debt at the Department of the Treasury where she was later promoted to a supervisory position. She was recognized for her outstanding performance by the Secretary of the Treasury Nicholas Brady as Disabled Employee of the Year.

Survivors include her loving husband, Don G. Poole of Summerville; her mother, Betty Astleford of Franklin, TN; her father, John J. Astleford, Jr. of Stone Mountain, GA; two sons, Nicholas Poole of Summerville, Marvin Poole of Charlotte, NC; one daughter, Jennifer Poole of Summerville; two brothers, John Astleford, III of Stone Mountain, GA, Bruce Calvin Astleford of Bellevue, NE; one niece, Aruna Astleford and one nephew, Drake Astleford, both of Bellevue, NE and her mother-in-law, Marjorie Poole of Summerville. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Morris Poole.
