Charles R. Pollock
Mount Pleasant - Charles Charles R. Pollock, 85, of Mount Pleasant died Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at a local hospital. He leaves his wife of 61 years, Iva Dean Hines Pollock.
He was born on May 2, 1920 in Charleston, SC to the late Earl William Pollock and Eva Burkhead Mills Pollock. He graduated Gallaudet University in Washington, DC and worked as a photo composer for the Post and Courier. Mr. Pollack was a member of First Baptist Church on Meeting St., Downtown Charleston. He was a Sunday school teacher for the deaf for 50 years in various churches in SC, a life time member of the National Association of the Deaf, National Fraternal Society of the Deaf, SC Association of the Deaf, member of the Quarter Century Club with the Post and Courier.
He is survived by his wife, Iva Dean of Mount Pleasant; a daughter, Nancy P. Pollock of Mount Pleasant; a grandson, Jefferson Nunn of California and his wife, Rhodora Santos of the Philippines; and a great-granddaughter, Ruth Isabella Nunn also of the Philippines.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 10:30 AM at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1520 Rifle Range Rd. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Mr. Pollock's' name to the American Heart Association, 409 King Street, suite 300, Charleston, SC 29401 or to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131.
