Mary Emmaline Lewis Milligan
Conway, SC - Mary Emmaline Lewis Milligan, age 87, wife of the late Vassie L. ''V.L'' Milligan Sr., of Caines Landing Road, died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Conway Medical Center.
Mrs. Milligan was born Feb. 5, 1919 in Horry County, a daughter of the late Ferd and Hattie Todd Lewis. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and was an avid quiltmaker. Mrs. Milligan was predeceased by two sons, Jack Daniel Milligan and Gene Crosby Milligan and two daughters, Naomi Cathey and Sue Black.
Surviving are two sons , Roger Dale Milligan of Chaska, Minnesota and Vassie Milligan Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Conway; six daughters, Jerley Collins and her husband, Gene, and Berlene Chestnut and her husband, Charlie, all of Conway, Avis Stewart and her husband, Roger, of Mocksville, N.C., Jackie Johnson and her husband, Danny, of Sellers, S.C., Frances Smith and her husband, Pete, of Fountain Inn, S.C. and Vernell Ercoline and her husband, Martin. of Lebanon, Illinois; twenty grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Ethel Bacun, Bonnie Stalvey, Cecil Schofill, Edna Eddins and Edith Quarterman; two brothers, Robert H. Lewis and Charles R. Lewis, and one special son-in-law, Rev. Dan Cathey.
Funeral services was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Kinlaw and the Rev. Jerry Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
