Maxine Elvington Looney

Columbia, SC - Services for Maxine Elvington Looney, 79, will be held Monday, July 2 at 2 pm at First Baptist Church, Boyce Chapel, with entombment in Elmwood Cemetery and Garden Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Deaf Ministry. Visitation was held on Sunday July 1 from 6 to 8 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.

Mrs. Looney died Friday, June 29, 2007. Born in Lakeview, she was a daughter of the late Levi Chad and Stella Hayes Elvington. She retired fvrom Kohn Printing Company in 1992.

Mrs. Looney was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught the Deaf Adult Sunday School Class, served on the Committee for the Deaf and was a member of ther Silent Sound Choir. She also was a member of the South Carolina Baptist Conference for the Deaf and S. C. Association of the Deaf Alumni Association.

Surviving are her husband of fifty-seven years, Joe Looney; daughter, Linda Martin of Columbia; son, Jackie Looney of Columbia; brother, Keith Elvington of Newport News, VA; sister Pauline Smith of Lakeview; grandchildren, Troye Dickert, Tabitha Bundy and Crystal Looney; and great-grandchildren, Zane Dickert and Jayden Looney.
