Columbia, SC -Services for Vanessa Evelyn Washington, 31, was held Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at First Calvary Baptist Church. Interment to follow in Memorial Gardens of Columbia. A.A. Dicks Funeral Home, Sullivan Chapel, is in charge of these arrangements.

She was the daughter of Allen Washington, Sr. and Shante Foster
She was educated in the public schools of Richland District One and the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind, Class of ‘94, where she was a member of the track team and was also a cheerleader.
She was very outgoing and involved in the activities of the deaf community.
She is survived by one daughter, Temeisha Manda Hopkins of Kingstree; her father, Allen (Tania) Washington, Sr. of Columbia, S.C.; her mother, Shante Faye (David) Foster of Charlotte, N.C.; her grandmother, Joan G. Hunter of Columbia, S.C.; five brothers, Allen Washington, Jr. of Columbia, S.C., Rico Washington of Charlotte, N.C., David Washington of Blythewood, S.C., Derik X. Gray of Ft. Campbell, Ky., and Stanly D. Gray, currently stationed in Iraq; her companion, LaMont Coles of Kingstree, S.C.; two nephews, eight aunts, five uncles and a host of other relatives and friends.
