Harry Culpepper, Sr. of Belton, SC

We are sad to share the news of the passing of Mr. Harry Culpepper, Sr.

BELTON, SC - Harry Estes Culpepper, 56, husband of Peggy Craig Culpepper of 433 Forest Lane died Sunday, September 14, 2008 at Greenville Regency Hospital.

Harry E. Culpepper, Sr. was born in Aiken County, was the son of the late William Marshall and Helen Heath Culpepper. He was a member of Belton First Baptist Church. He graduated from SCSDB in 1971 and went on to become a strong deaf advocate and leader, serving in many deaf organizations across the state. He was appointed as the first deaf member of the Board of Commissioners of the SC School for the Deaf and Blind and served for 27 years, from 1981 to 2007. He also serving as Secretary of the Board from 2006-07, and was a lifetime member of the SC School for the Deaf Alumni Association. He was a member and former president of the South Carolina Association of the Deaf and a co-founder of the South Carolina Deaf Golf Association. He was very active with our school and the deaf community for many years with his very good hearts.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: sons, Harry Culpepper, Jr. of Bluffton, Marshall Durrell Culpepper and wife Dawn of Honea Path and Heath Charles Culpepper of Belton; grandchildren, Sarah Nichole Culpepper and Eric Freeman both of Honea Path.
       
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 17, 6 - 8 p.m. at the Cox Funeral Home in Belton. (201 River St. Belton, SC. 29627), A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 18 at 3 p.m. at the Belton City Cemetery.
