Awards Banquet
Saturday, August 6, Noon: The 2011 SCAD Conference Committee is very excited to announce the SCAD Awards Luncheon Banquet will be held on Saturday noon, August 6 at the Summitt Pointe in Spartanburg, SC in conjunction with the 100th SCAD Conference. The conference will be held August 4-6, 2011. The SCAD has always presented an award to outstanding individuals or groups at its biennial conference. These awards are in regognition of their valuable contributions to the organization and the deaf/hard of hearing community. SCAD wishes to acknowledge the dedication, efforts and time of those indiviuals or groups to make SC a better world for the deaf/hard of hearing people. Awards are one way to recognize their contributions and the presentation of such awards is a public affair for all to see and honor the recipients.
The conference will be hosted by our very own Brandon Holst. Our keynote Speaker will be Howard A. Rosenblum, the new CEO of NAD. Award Chair Carolyn Williamson will present the awards. Awards will be:

Community Service Award: To a group, an organization, an agency or an individual for exemplary community service benefiting the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in South Carolina.

Legislator of the Year: To a legislator who has shown and given great support in the State House on behalf of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing people in South Carolina in the last two years.

Most Distinguished Service Award: To any individual who has given a continuous dedication of time and services to SCAD, assisting the Deaf/Hard of Hearing people in the past two years.

Outstanding Affiliation Award: To a local SCAD affiliate for loyalty, support, and dedicated service to SCAD.

Walter Glover Award: In memory of the SCAD founder, Walter Glover, this award goes to a Deaf SCAD member who contributes his/her time and efforts to SCAD through various activities.

Sophia Perritt Brant Award: In memory of the life-long SCAD member, Sophia Perritt Brant, this award goes to a young Deaf adult who shows promise and potential through his/her participation in various Deaf activities.

Unsung Hero Award: This is to recognize the unsung efforts of a faithful member who has devoted many hours of work behind the scenes, but is almost never recognized.

The Golden Hand Award: This award is SCAD/NAD project to recognize outstanding individuals or groups, who have demonstrated exemplary service efforts to better the lives of the Deaf people in South Carolina.
- The Charlie Mckinney Award: To an indiviual who has shown outstanding leadership in leading and advocating what is best for SCAD.

If you are not attedning all conference events but only want to attend the Award Banquet,
you can pay Award Banquet ticket at 40.00 plus a required registration fee of $25.00.
If you pay at door, it is first come first serve basis if there is a banqeut seat avaiable.
