Keynote Speaker

On behalf of the South Carolina Association of the Deaf's (SCAD) Board of Directors and the 2011 SCAD Conference Committee, we are excited to announce that Howard A. Rosenblum is the keynote speaker for the 2011 SCAD Conference. He began work as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) in April of 2011.

He brought to NAD his wealth of experience as a lawyer in the areas of disability rights and special education law. In the past nine years, he was Senior Attorney at Equip for Equality, the designated Protection & Advocacy entity for the State of Illinois. In 1977, he founded the Midwest Center on Law and the Deaf to address the lack of access to the legal profession for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals. He oversaw its operations as the Board Chair until 2011. In 2010, President Barack Obama appointed Mr. Rosenblum to serve on the United States Access Board. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering from the University of Arizona and a Juris Doctor degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago- Kent College of Law.
