Programs

Multicultural Outreach (MOS)

SCAD works diligently to reach various individuals across the spectrum with specialized services. The services provided are: advocacy, conflict resolution, information and referral, education and multicultural interpreters.

MOS also awards scholarships to Multicultural Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing College bound students. This is an excellent opportunity for Multicultural students who work hard, make good grades and show leadership skills. MOS encourages all students to apply for this scholarship.

Pilot Captioning Project

Provides real time captioning for local news programs across the state. Real time captioning ensures that the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing citizens are kept up to date. This is especially important in coastal areas, hit first by hurricanes and vulnerable to natural disasters.

  • Recruiting students into attending an Interpreter Training Program

  • Recruiting recent Interpreter Training Program graduates into relocating to South Carolina

  • Recruiting certified interpreters into relocating to South Carolina

  • Training South Carolina’s practicing interpreters

  • Providing assessment opportunities for South Carolina practicing interpreters

  • Providing general information regarding interpreters, interpreting, and the rights and obligations in relation to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals
